PHOENICIA. Sidon. Ba`alšillem (Sakton) II, circa 401-366 BC. Double Shekel (Silver, 29 mm, 28.08 g, 12 h). Phoenician galley above waves left; above, 𐤁 ('b' in Phoenician). Rev. The Persian Great King, raising his right hand in salute, and holding bow in his left, standing left in slow chariot driven by a driver to left; to right, king of Sidon, in Egyptian style garments, walking left, holding cultic scepter in his right hand. Betlyon 18. E&E-S Group IV.1.1.a, 460-673. HGC 10, 236. A well centered and unusually complete example. Struck from a somewhat worn obverse die and with light doubling, otherwise, very fine.
